What is Meditation? Can anyone do it?

Meditation is an ancient and diverse practice that allows us to de-stress, gain clarity, and process difficult situations.

Meditation is accessible to ALL people and doesn't require any religious belief, special materials or uncomfortable sitting positions.

Meditation is a state of awareness, a space of deep listening that can be woven into any activity.

It is being fully present with our Life as it unfolds before us ~

Why Meditate?

When we become stressed our bodies releases a hormone called Cortisol, which takes a toll on our mind and body.

Cortisol interferes with memory/learning/concentration functions, lowers our immune system, increases weight gain,

contributes to heart disease and digestive problems, feeds both depression and anxiety while also stirring up our sleeping patterns.

There are many ways to battle Cortisol, a few being; laughter, social connectivity, music and meditation.

My sessions are often very lighthearted with plenty of laughter, group conversation, live and recorded music all while exploring the meditative state.

It is my intention that you leave the room peaceful, while also equipping you with the skills to tackle stress yourself.

Is meditation backed by Science?

Short Answer is Yes.

There are countless studies and papers that show remarkable evidence that meditation can help us re-wire our brains.

My Approach

I was taught mindfulness meditation in college, which became my foundation.

When I began teaching college kids, I found they needed something more… someway of making meditation more access-able to the lives they were living.

I began creating my own methods and trying them out first-hand to see how they were received from 2013-2016.

After those years of experimentation, I formed my approach which is still ever-changing, as I am ever-learning.

Meditation is not a cop-out, nor is it just for reducing stress.

I feel it can really teach us more about who we are underneath all the layers, bringing a deeper sense of meaning to our lives.

I strive to continue to grow as a teacher and am always studying new ways of guiding people through the inward spaces.

I now teach a blend of traditional/modern approaches to meditation, with a creative twist, that uses music and psychology to deepen the session.

I’m all about finding new ways to express these ideas and convey them in a way that it is access-able to ALL people.

My Teaching Experience

I have been teaching meditation for 8 years in many different environments. I began meditating back in 2011 out of curiosity.

After studying and practicing many forms of meditation from different schools of thought, I began experimenting with my own methods ; studying how different types of music, activities, food, environments, and even lighting can affect the meditative state.

I began teaching because I read a yogi tea quote that said, "To Master, Teach". So in 2013, I set up a class in my freshman dorm called the "Ohm Sessions" and I taught every Wednesday night for an entire semester. I learned so much by just diving in and teaching what I was learning first hand.

This was when I realized I had a deep passion for teaching.

I began teaching out of my home that summer and even in corporate workplaces, which has been incredibly rewarding.

I continued teaching at Keene State College, gave one-on-one sessions, taught children, and held online meditation sessions.

My passion took me to Australia where I trained as a yoga/meditation teacher at an eco-village in 2017.

I now teach my own unique blend of creative meditation that is meant to empower, inspire peace, and foster creativity.

My studying continues and I am now looking into training to be a Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapist/Transpersonal Therapist.

My most recent love has been Qi Gong and I am already facilitating sessions with friends to learn more deeply.
